Medievil - The Crystal Caves
April 20, 2012
The Crystal Caves in my Medievil walkthrough.
I remember the music in this level from the demo I played. The beginning of this level is probably the hardest part. There's a handful of Shadow Demons that will take 2 shots from your Magic Longbow to kill. The platforms are quite small, but there's more chance of you missing a Shadow Demon than falling in.
After this most of the enemies are encased in Crystal, and half of them are Imps... One Slash and they're gone. The Rhinotaurs are new, but with your Magic Sword, they'll die in a few hits.
The boss is quite a neat idea. To fight him you need both Dragon Gems for a start. The way you fight him is pretty neat I guess. Put the 4 spots he emerges from in a Clockwise fashion left-right (he travels this way too), you need to be one anticlockwise of him and smacking the floor with the Hammer. As soon as he is hit, make your way to the platform he's on and smack it as soon as he appears. 5 hits and he's down.
Your reward for beating him is Dragon Armour. Wearing this changes Dan into a Dragon costume, in this form he is resistant to fire, can walk on lava, but his only attack is to breath fire (you can wield a shield too). The fire attack isn't too helpful. but it seems to burn weaker enemies up pretty quickly, so you could use it against weaker enemies.
You'll need the lava walking abilities a couple of times though.
The Japanese girl with an English accent will award you with the most powerful weapon in the game, Lightning. You'll burn through it quickly though, so save it for tougher ranks of enemies.
There is a cheat to get more Lightning. Get it to a low % and go to a level with thieving Imps and let them steal it. Go to a Gargoyle and you can buy it back (pretty expensive though I believe). I never used the Lightning other than to test it against one of the final bosses (it sucked there) but it is useful to use for some of the remaining enemies if you wish.
